Mrs. Alice Petranek had always wanted an occupation in healthcare, but knew that nursing was not her calling. After exploring rehabilitation and observing professionals in the field, she came to the career of Occupational Therapy.
She now works for Aviator Home Health, a unique company that allows her to visit the homes of her patients and work with them in a familiar setting. Because of this experience, she has learned that one of the most fundamental elements of successful Occupational Therapy is the mutually trusting relationship between the therapist and the patient. She strives every day to serve as a “cheerleader” for all of her patients in order to inspire them to constantly push past their boundaries no matter what they may be. Alice Petranek has recently given me the amazing opportunity to me mentored by her. Through my work with her, I hope to develop a much more detailed understanding of the procedures and protocol that take place in the life on an OT so that I can determine if this is the field of study I wish to pursue. I look forward with great anticipation to my experience alongside this wonderfully inspiring Occupational Therapist. |
